Ready invitation texts in three tones, a version written on behalf of the parents, and the five details the wording must always carry.
Invitation wording does not need to be long. A guest's eye looks for three things: who is inviting, when, and where. Everything else sets the mood. Below are examples in three tones you can copy and adapt.
Five details the wording must carry
- 01The couple's names, with surnames where possible.
- 02Date, day of the week and the exact time.
- 03Venue name and address.
- 04Both times if the ceremony and the dinner start at different hours.
- 05A contact number for questions.
1. Formal tone
Dear guest, we would like to share the most treasured day of our lives with you. Our ceremony will take place on Saturday, 12 September 2026 at 18:00 at Gulustan Palace. Your presence would be a great honour for us.
This tone suits colleagues, senior management and older guests. There is no need to add words: formal wording works better when it stays short.
2. Warm, personal tone
We are inviting you to our wedding, to come together on this special day, celebrate with us and create memories we will keep for years. Having you beside us is the greatest gift.
The most popular choice for friends and close family. This is the place to add one personal detail: the city where you met, the years you have shared, a moment that matters to you both.
3. Short tone
We are getting married! Saturday, 12 September 2026, 18:00. Gulustan Palace, Baku. We would love to see you there.
A format modern couples like. It pairs well with minimal design and fits on a single phone screen.
Invitations from the parents
In Azerbaijan, wording the invitation on behalf of the parents is read as a mark of respect and is still widely used:
The Mammadov and Aliyev families warmly invite you to the wedding of their children. Saturday, 12 September 2026 at 18:00, Gulustan Palace.
What to avoid
- Long poems and quotations: guests skip them and the key details sink to the bottom.
- Lines such as «no gifts please»: written with good intentions, they often create awkwardness.
- Wording sent only as an image: it stays small for older guests and the map cannot open.
- A vague «in the evening» instead of an exact time.
